Discovering A Different World In French Riviera
When your personal tour director first told you that you were going to visit a place touted to be the perfume capital of the world, you felt an instant sense of anticipation. Perfume capital of the world, just the phrase seemed to be wafting a fragrance to you, and imaginations of endless rows of fresh flowers, clean air and lush green lawns filled your mind. And now a few hours later, as you sit at the Place aux Aires, as a pretty three tiered fountain splashes behind you and round, green hills loom in the horizon, you take a deep breath, filling your lungs with the pristinely clean air of Grasse, also known as the perfume capital of the world. You hold the air in your lungs for a few moments, smilingly acknowledging that the place indeed deserves its title.

With its tiny streets, fresh air and bright flowers which blossom round the year, Grasse is just one of the many gems you have experienced at French Riviera. Like the medieval village of Saint Paul de Vence, which you explored yesterday. Its many art galleries had given you a glimpse into the rich cultural history of the region. Even the walks through its narrow winding streets had been an experience in itself, with warm and friendly people greeting you at every corner. The gardens bursting with colour, the ancient fountains, and the quaint porches had left you calmed and delightfully soothed.

Soon, you are escorted by your tour director to a place which establishes that Grasse is not just a pretty place, but also a culturally brimming place with a history. As you enter the Place Godeau, a 10th century Notre Dame du Puy cathedral, a sense of awe fills your being. Inside the cathedral which is identified easily by its huge clock tower, hang three paintings dating back to 1601. Each one a masterpiece in its own right, you see the connection between the inspiring ambience of French Riviera and the resulting artistic excellence. As the tour director escorts you to your Limo headed for the next stop, you can't help feeling in love with Grasse.

As the evening descends, you find yourself at the Cote d'Azur, one of the most well known resorts of French Riviera. In here, at Juan Le Pins to be more precise, you discover a throbbing nightlife with the most fashionable casinos, night clubs and shopping avenues. You are amazed at the contrasts offered to you by this magical place, as 10th century cathedrals exist in harmony with pulsating nightclubs. As you start grooving to the music floating under the dim lights, a group of local youngsters join you, smiling warmly. You feel happy to be in French Riviera, a land where you have been enveloped by the magic of Picasso, smelled the fragrance of fresh flowers, been humbled by a culture which oozes dignity & richness, and now dancing to the tunes wafting in from a more modern phase of this wonderful region.
