Overview

Matemo Island is situated in the Quirimbas Archipelago, northern Mozambique. This posh and stylish resort caters to the needs of tourists with diverse tastes. For the relaxation and comfort of the sandy white beaches, one would not have to go far. The Resort has beach stretches close to the rooms. They are unpolluted and provide a view of the crystal clear lagoons that beckon guests who are looking for complete luxury. These untouched beaches are the perfect place for you to practice the art of doing nothing. Do not hesitate to take a dip in the over whelming turquoise lagoons and the infinite blue sea which definitely has a soothing effect on your senses.

The Resort houses 24 thatched chalets ideal for family leisure as well as fishing & diving enthusiasts. All the chalets are within 10 metres of the beach, having a large front verandah with a hammock and versatile sleeping facilities with either two twin beds or queen size beds. Some of the chalets offer a private dining area as well. Each of them has an en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers, air-conditioning and the convenience of mini-bars and tea/coffee making facilities. Chalets are set separately from the main building where you’ll dine on sublime local seafood, relax at the pool and enjoy sumptuous cocktails at the bar. Discover the Jambo Restaurant – with an inside and outside deck / verandah. Kariboo Bar and Zanzibar are ideal for cocktails by the sunset or just a drink in the tranquility of the lush surroundings.

One can take a “Water taxi” to the nearby Ibo Island for a fascinating, cultural experience or even treat oneself to an underwater wonderland with captivating diving and snorkeling with some of the world’s richest coral reef stretches. The Quirimbas Islands feature phenomenal vertical drops, some up to 400 meters for dive enthusiasts. The coral reefs surrounding the Island of Matemo are one of Mozambique's latest discoveries. Dolphins are often encountered around the Island and on journeys to and from the dive sites.
